City, County and Local Government Law is the practice of law dealing with legal matters of county, municipal or other local governments. This involves such issues as land use planning and zoning, permitting, construction licensing, annexation, dangerous dog, animal seizure, historic preservation and utilities.
Administrative Law deals with the activities of administrative agencies of government, which includes rulemaking, adjudication, or the enforcement of specific regulations. In particular, administrative law deals with the decision-making of administrative units of government that are part of a regulatory scheme. In Florida, this includes regulations dealing with the environment, water management districts, business and professional licensing, land use planning and utilities.
Appellate Law deals with recognition and preservation of error committed by lower tribunals, and the presentation of argument concerning the presence or absence of such error to a higher court through brief writing, writ and motion practice and oral argument. This may include appeals of court decisions or the decisions of a local government or agency.
Business Law involves the formation of corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies. It also includes such issues as the negotiation and preparation of employment contracts, noncompete agreements, trademarks and the purchase or sale of a business
Construction Law is concerned with matters relating to the design and construction of improvements on private and public projects, which includes construction dispute resolution, contract negotiation and preparation, and the analysis and litigation of problems arising out of the Florida Construction Lien Law.
Criminal Law is the area of law that deals with crime and the legal punishment of criminal offenses. This includes motion and trial practice.
Real Property Law involves the various forms of ownership and interests in real property. This includes all aspects surrounding the lease and transfer of real property, such as the preparation of deeds, mortgages, easements, leases and rental agreements. Additionally, it involves landlord-tenant disputes, quiet title actions, the determination of property rights, and the legal issues relating to homeowners and property owners associations.
